Burton Machine is closed for business.

On January 30th, I suffered a stroke. On top of the stroke I am fighting a massive cold, sinus infection, and amĀ  barely able to stay up right up. Recovery is very slow because if the illness combo. I can’t tell what pain is illness, and what is swelling. I’m a walking pharmacy.

The shop never made it to where it needs to be worth it. The most troubling and difficult 6 years of life have taken a toll. I thank you all who have helped along the way to spread the word. It is time for something less stressful.

I have sold most of the big equipment, but will continue as an avid hobbyist. The website will remain up for tech, blog, car builds, who knows what. You never know, you might catch me in a good mood sometime and do a side project.

Thanks again my friends and followers.

P.S. If any of this is written weird, I’m working on it.

The custom bikes!

In the spirit of eco-friendly, we dared ourselves to come up with a custom chopper, using salvaged parts. We had a few derelict bikes around the shop, so out came the sawzall and welders.

Hard to believe but this was the main donor bike…

A few other parts came from this…

Here’s your first peek at the mockup so far…

Yes, that is a duck foot kickstand (inside joke). Here’s another angle…

This pic is before the custom bar was tacked up, but shows the nice lines, low seat, but fantastic ground clearance. You really feel low and sleek on it, but it has more ground clearance than most any stock bike…

Anyone wondering why the battery pack is so huge? The secret it out. They’re going to be electric choppers! We want to do something that is fresh and new, eco-friendly, says “screw you” to the gas stations, and still looks like something you might want to be seen on. This first one started as the challenge Willie and I came up with.

The bikes will have 30hp 72v systems which will “feel” about like a 90hp standard bike. Top speed potential will vary by build, as will trip distance. This one is for putting around town, and parades, so it will only go about 20 miles. Customers can choose performance based on budget.

To give you an idea of the size, here’s a pic with Willie on it. He’s about 5′ 11″, and as you can see it is a comfortable fit, without being too stretched out…

While this one is being done for our own fun, call me up if you are interested in a custom build for yourself. We’ll do any style, from classic to modern, mild to wild. We’re building this slick looking bike out of garbage parts. Imagine what we could do for an all new custom!
